Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt
Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt" is a new initiative launched by the Kerala Police to eradicate the roots of the drug mafia. The project is being implemented jointly with the cooperation of the Education, Health, and Excise departments. The state-level inauguration of the project was performed by Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan on June 2, 2026, at a function held at Cotton Hill School in Thiruvananthapuram.
Through this project, the Kerala Police aims to take strict legal action against drug mafias and build a massive public defense with community participation. The project has been envisioned in a manner suited for the digital era to counter the rapid spread of synthetic drugs. Along with serving a stern warning of the law to drug mafias, this mission also aims to ensure a complete sense of security for ordinary citizens.
To destroy the inter-state drug mafia, joint plans will be formulated in consultation with the police chiefs of other South Indian states. A comprehensive digital surveillance system consisting of apps and WhatsApp chatbots will be set up to anonymously share information regarding drug trafficking. The police will ensure the protection of those who provide secret information.
